Terri Charlesworth OAM - Artistic Director

In 2009 Terri introduced exciting additions to the program of the Terri Charlesworth Ballet Centre and is constantly reviewing and developing the programme. In 1973 Terri wrote Western Australia's first 3 year tertiary dance course, which was approved under the Commonwealth Tertiary Allowance Scheme. In 1978 she implemented the first Junior Professional Program for young talented dance students of Western Australia many of whom went on to national and international dance careers. In 1989 she wrote the year 11 and year 12 Ballet Performance subject for EDWA and chaired the Dance Syllabus Committee of the Curriculum Council in the early 90's .In 1990 Terri implemented her training methods in a Specialist Ballet Program for talented ballet students at Swanbourne Senior High School. Since 2001 She has worked as Artistic Advisor to her daughter in the development of the Junior Professional Course and Youth Ballet WA.



Lynley Fudger Coordinator, Dip of Dance, CDTA

Lynley commenced her dance training with Terri Charlesworth Ballet Centre and continued on to more intensive study at the full time training programme at GCD under the direction of Terri Charlesworth OAM. Aged 17, Lynley was accepted into the Australian Ballet School and then Kinetikos Dance Theatre where she danced professionally for 3 years. Lynley was thrilled to be offered a teaching position with the Terri Charlesworth Ballet Centre in 1993, and shares her knowledge & love of dance with her students. She has furthered her study in the Vaganova method and was invited to also work with the Junior Professional students in 2004.



Maroushka Harmalin - Principal Classical Teacher, CDTA

Maroushka began her professional dance career with the West Australian Ballet Company under the direction of Kira Bousloff. She then spent the next six years dancing professionally with various dance companies around the world. On her return to Perth she accepted the position of Ballet Mistress with West Australian Ballet. Maroushka has been teaching dance to children for over 20 years, commencing with the Terri Charlesworth Ballet Centre in 1994. Maroushka is a Principal teacher of TCBC and the Junior Professional Programme of Ballet Centre of WA.




Michelle Broad, Dip of Dance, CDTA

Former principal of her own dancing school in Swanbourne and graduate of the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Michelle has gained extensive training and performing experience in London, Russia and Spain. Michelle was a member of the West Australian Ballet Company and a founding member of DanzaViva Spanish Company. An accredited teacher in both Classical and Spanish dance, Michelle was teaching for the Terri Charlesworth Ballet Centre in Margaret River. Michelle has relocated to Perth and is enjoying teaching ballet and Spanish dance at our Duncraig branch.



Denise Nunn A.R.A.D. Solo Seal

Studied Ballet at Scully-Borovansky School in Sydney gaining Solo Seal (RAD) and was awarded a scholarship to study overseas. She furthered her study at the Royal Ballet School (London). Graduated into the Royal Ballet Company Covent Garden where she performed for the next 5 years touring extensively. After 1 year she was chosen by Sir Frederick Ashton to play the lead role of Vera in his newly created ballet: A Month in the Country. Denise continued to perform in lead roles with the Royal Ballet before joining the Australian Ballet for 1 year. Denise taught with TCBC in the early 90s and rejoined our staff in 2006. Denise teaches at the Bayswater branch of TCBC.



Fiona Hood CDTA

Fiona began ballet aged 4 at the Utassy Memorial Ballet School, Children's Dance Theatre & Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. She furthered her studies here in Perth at the GCD under the direction of Terri Charlesworth. She pursued her love of dance by teaching for TCBC from 1990 - 1996, taught character dance at the Swanbourne High School specialist dance program and also Kindy Ballet with June Moran. Fiona moved to Thailand with her husband and began an after school dance program at Dulwich International College teaching Folk Dance, Ballet, Jazz, Funk and Tumble classes for students aged 5 - 17 years. Fiona teaches at the Applecross and Claremont Branches of TCBC.



Cassie Walton

Cassie began her ballet training at the age of 5 with the Terri Charlesworth Ballet Centre. At 9 she successfully auditioned for the GCD under the direction of Terri Charlesworth. When she was 13 she joined the Junior Professional program where she combined her ballet & academic studies. Cassie displayed a love of children and a passion for teaching which was instrumental in her being offered the opportunity to participate in intensive teacher training and professional development. Cassie has done this for the last three years and we are now delighted to have her as part of the team. Cassie teaches at the Canning Vale, Wembley Downs and North Perth Branches of TCBC.



Ilila Chown

International ballet dancer, Ilila began her classical ballet training at the Terri Charlesworth Ballet Centre at six years of age. Her talent was quickly noticed, finally graduating with honors from the professional student class of Terri Charlesworth. Ilia was awarded a scholarship to continue her studies at the Paluucca Schule Dresden in Germany. She then danced with the Internationally acclaimed Dresden Staatsoper Ballet Company performing in the Sleeping Beauty, La Baydadere and Taming the Shrew. Returning to Perth, Ilila decided to continue her career of teaching. Her warm personality combined with creativity, expertise and dedication make her a most popular teacher of our students. Ilila teaches at the Darlington branch of TCBC.
